two-toned kitchens

Kitchens are our jam. We’ve spent a lot of time designing and installing kitchens. We always love staying on top of the latest and greatest kitchen trends, and implementing them into our designs. One of our favorite trends on the scene at the moment is two-toned kitchens. Not only can this make a kitchen design more interesting, but it is a timeless way of combining two different looks that compliment each other into one. There are two types of two-toned kitchens. The first is a top-to-bottom approach, where all of the upper cabinets are one color, and the lower cabinets and island are another. The second is where all of the cabinets on all levels are the same color, and the island is the show-stopper.

Many of our clients have recently requested the latter of the two, and we can see why. See below for a combination of some of our recent projects and other great examples.

White & Wood

A classic combination, one of our absolute favorite two-toned plays is combining warm wood tones with clean white cabinetry. The contrast between the clean whites and the natural earthy textures is always *chef’s kiss*.

Bringing in Black

Something about bringing black into a kitchen makes the room immediately feel more elevated and modern. Although black sometimes feels like an intimidating design choice for some, it always ends up looking elegant and intentional. Added bonus: a black island is shoe-scuff friendly ;)

Bold Shades

If you’re over neutrals, choosing a bold shade for your island is a perfect way to bring color into your kitchen and dining space. There are still one thousand and one ways to tie everything together, and we admire your “boring is for the birds” mentality. Disclaimer: may cause lots of compliments.

Marble, too

We aren’t afraid to say it. Marble makes everything better, including kitchen islands. It brings a natural, elevated and unique touch to a kitchen design. And we also love a marble alternative.

What is your favorite two-toned kitchen trend? We’d love to hear about it. Comment below, send us a DM, or book a consultation with us if you’re ready to make your two-toned kitchen dreams come true. We look forward to hearing from you!
