Check Out These 2023 Kitchen Trends

Peep our kitchen design trend predictions for this year and beyond!

Let's be honest for a second - Doing an entire kitchen renovation or remodel isn't something you do every year. It may not even be happening this year for you. But it's certainly something most homeowners do at least once in their lives. And it sounds cliché, but kitchens are the centerpiece of a home. It's where we come together with family and friends for meals, conversation, and celebrations. As such, it can be an exciting yet overwhelming prospect to design or remodel a kitchen.

Here at Jordan Morrissey Interior Design, we don't believe in gatekeeping stylish and fun ways to update your kitchen (even when you're on a budget). So, let's look at some of the most popular predictions and current trends for this year. We hope these give you ideas and inspiration for changing at least one thing about your current kitchen this year!

Unconventional Kitchen Islands

The island is sure to stay in kitchens for years to come—but what will change is its look. In 2023, expect large islands with lots of counter space and seating around them. This is great for entertaining guests or just having that extra room for meal prep and storage space. Some homeowners are even going for multi-use islands by simply using a dining table and putting chairs around it for seating. Either way, the kitchen island doesn't have to be that traditional block of wood and countertop just because it's at the heart of your kitchen.

Bold Patterns & Colors

When it comes to kitchen design trends, patterns and colors are becoming increasingly popular. Homeowners are looking for ways to make their kitchens stand out, and adding a unique pattern or color is an easy way to do so. Whether you choose a bold statement wall with a vibrant wallpaper pattern or decide on colorful cabinets, there’s no wrong way to add some pizzazz to your kitchen. Patterns can also be used as accents in the form of tile backsplashes, flooring designs, or even curtains and rugs. Neutral tones like white and grey remain popular choices for walls and countertops, but if you want something more eye-catching, then don’t be afraid to experiment with different shades!

Exciting Backsplashes

Backsplashes have become increasingly popular over the years as they provide an easy way to add texture and color without taking up too much visual space. Expect backsplashes in 2023 kitchens to become larger and more intricate. Think tile mosaics and 3D patterns that cover entire walls from floor to ceiling! If you're looking for something simpler but still impactful, consider installing subway tiles in bold, eye-catching colors like cobalt blue or emerald green.  We're even seeing some who opt for glass panels and mirrors to add a bit more depth and dimension to their kitchens.

Detailed Cabinetry

Detailed millwork in custom cabinets has always been our specialty, but now it looks like it's becoming a popular trend. Whether we're refacing cabinets or cutting brand-new ones, millwork throughout offers a unique design touch and element you can't get with manufactured pieces. A popular style? A double-edged frame that highlights a two-tone cabinet. It draws in the eye and gives a kitchen that unique feature homeowners are always looking for.

Materials & Textures

2023 kitchen design trends will also feature lots of interesting textures and materials like wood, stone, metal, glass, and concrete. These materials can be used on their own or combined together to create unique looks that are both stylish and functional. For instance, a wooden countertop paired with concrete walls makes a stunning statement while providing plenty of storage space at the same time! Plus, these materials are incredibly durable, so they won't need replacing anytime soon - perfect for busy households!  Additionally, experts in our field predict we'll start to see more use of darker woods as more people look to bring back the warm and comfy tones.

Wood Stains

Wood stains are also making a comeback in kitchen designs, and we expect this to continue throughout the year. Wood stain finishes come in many different colors and shades, allowing you to customize your kitchen’s look without sacrificing style or comfort. From light and natural hues to dark and dramatic tones – wood stains provide endless options for creating an eye-catching aesthetic that will stand out from the crowd. Whether you prefer traditional stained wood cabinets or something more modern like two-tone frames – there’s sure to be a wood stain option that works best for your space!

Smart Appliances

Smart appliances are becoming increasingly popular in kitchen design trends for 2023. Smart technology has made it easier than ever to control your kitchen from the comfort of your own home. With a few taps on a touchscreen, you can adjust temperatures, cook times, lighting levels, and more - all with the help of voice commands or an app. Smart appliances are also energy-efficient and provide detailed information about how much electricity is being used each day. This makes them great for those looking to save money on their energy bills while still having access to modern conveniences like air fryers and slow cookers. Plus, many smart appliances come with built-in sensors that allow them to monitor food quality and alert you when something needs attention! We expect to see more of these not just in 2023 but in the future as they become a staple in many households.

The Kitchen You’ve Always Wanted is Possible

There are many ways you can create a stunning kitchen design that combines style with functionality in 2023. Whether you’re looking for an island with plenty of counter space or intricate backsplash designs that bring life into your cooking area – there’s something out there for everyone! With careful planning and thoughtful consideration, you’ll be able to create a kitchen that fits your needs perfectly!
